Continuously exemplifies the Greenwood Communities and Resorts (GCR) mission, values and customer service philosophy of GCR in job performance and in relationships to others.  The Assistant Restaurant Manager is responsible for supporting the Restaurant Manager in the operation of the front of the house areas, including restaurant, bar, and private dining room. 


  • Assist Restaurant Manager in management of dining reservations and special event reservations utilizing the reservation system.
  • Ensure that all preparation for dinner service and private functions are completed daily.
  • Responsible for management of the beverage program at Alexander's Restaurant and Wine Bar.
  • Helps control beverage costs and has a constant understanding of where the restaurant stands financially.
  • Responsible for the ordering, receiving, invoice processing, storage and issuing of all beverage products and small equipment.
  • Controls spending so that beverage costs remain within budget limitations.
  • Oversees the control of cash receipts and petty cash utilization.
  • Ensures that bar sanitation meets or exceeds specification of DHEC and departmental standards.
  • Ensures that beverage storage and service equipment is maintained.
  • Complete monthly beverage inventory and post to Department Head for review.
  • Coordinate with vendors the creation of special events, wine dinners, and promotions.
  • Conducts periodic beverage training with staff and management.
  • Coordinates with Catering Department and assists with ordering for special events.
  • Offers plans to improve sales.
  • Assist in hiring, training and supervising Alexander's staff.
  • Assist Restaurant Manager with performance evaluations.
  • Assist in coordination of holidays and special events.
  • Assist Restaurant Manager in training and development of all front of the house restaurant staff
  • Attend weekly department meetings as scheduled.
  • Act as Manager on Duty in support or absence of Alexander's Restaurant Manager
  • Assist other segments of department with operating functions as needed.  


  • Two to four years experience in food service operation as a supervisor or manager
  • Extensive wine knowledge and experience with cocktail creation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Publisher


College level coursework in management, restaurant management, or other business-related field desired. 

Level 1 Introductory Level Sommelier course completion preferred.

Minimum high school graduate with emphasis on skill training.
